SUSTAINABILITY IS OUR ATTITUDE.Since 1469. Measurable. Verified. Day by day.

THIS IS WHAT WE STAND FOR.

DÜKER.CERTIFIED MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

Düker has existed for more than 555 years – sustainability is not a campaign for us, but part of our corporate culture. Our management systems for quality, environment, energy and occupational safety are audited by DEKRA as an accredited certification body and regularly recertified. These systems are not an end in themselves: they give us the data basis to systematically improve our environmental performance – year after year.

Four certified management systems.

Audited. Confirmed. Visible.

Our certificates and audit seals are awarded by independent auditors and reviewed regularly. This creates accountability – internally for our processes, externally for our customers and partners.

THIS IS WHAT WE STAND FOR.

DÜKER. WATER IS OUR CORE BUSINESS. AND OUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Water is the foundation of all life – and one of the resources around which the defining questions of the 21st century will revolve: availability, quality, distribution, efficiency. Anyone who manufactures products for water supply shapes this infrastructure for decades. That is our claim – and our responsibility.

Longevity is our strongest sustainability argument.

A valve that lies in the ground for 80 years and works reliably is more sustainable than any replacement solution. Every product we do not have to replace saves materials, energy, emissions and disruption to the infrastructure. That is why we build our products not for the next replacement cycle, but for long-term operation – certified by our 10-year warranty.

Efficiency saves water before it is lost.

Leaks, ageing network infrastructure and inefficient valves cause significant water losses in many supply networks. Our solutions are designed to minimise these losses – through precise shut-off technology, high-quality sealing systems and smart technologies that make the condition and operation of the network transparent.

Düker since 1469. That is the long-term test.

Anyone who has been around this long does not think in quarters. We have weathered wars, crises and industrial transformations – because we have always put quality before quantity, while keeping the application in focus. This attitude is the reason customers have trusted us across generations. And it is the foundation on which we will achieve our sustainability goals.

Our main product groups are verified to EN 15804+A2 (EPD). This makes our sustainability performance verifiable for our business partners – not through our own statements, but through independent bodies.

VERIFIED AND CERTIFIED.

OUR PRODUCTS. INDEPENDENTLY VERIFIED.

Anyone who takes sustainability seriously has it verified. Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) according to ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2 are available for our main product groups – based on full life cycle assessments and externally verified by Kiwa-Ecobility Experts.

EPDs are the gold standard for environmental information on construction products. They form the data basis for DGNB, BNB, LEED and BREEAM certifications and enable architects and planners to compare materials reliably.

Three verified product groups.

  • Düker SML drainage pipes

  • Düker butterfly valves

  • Düker hydrants and gate valves

We initially provide our EPDs on request. This way, we can supply you with all relevant documents tailored to your project – including current updates and individual consultation.

What an EPD tells you.

An EPD documents the environmental impact of a product across its entire life cycle – from raw material extraction through transport and production to use and recycling. It evaluates the carbon footprint, water and energy consumption, recycling rates and resource efficiency. Verification is carried out by independent, accredited bodies.

Düker EPDs are prepared in accordance with EN 15804+A2:2019 and are valid until 28 April 2031.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

CAST IRON IS OUR MATERIAL. AND OUR CYCLE.

Cast iron can be recycled multiple times – without loss of quality. This makes it the ideal material for water infrastructure: durable in operation, fully recyclable at the end of the product’s life. We use this property systematically – in production, in the product and in take-back.

Almost 100 % recycled material.

Our products are made from melted-down scrap and other secondary raw materials from our own production: foundry sand, residual coating powder and iron dust flow directly back into the production cycle. This means that every Düker cast product consists predominantly of material that has already gone through one life cycle – and can be melted down again at the end of its use.

Our SML drainage pipes are made from 100 % scrap iron – externally verified and documented as part of our EPD according to EN 15804+A2. This makes Düker the only manufacturer in Germany to produce cast iron drainage pipes entirely from recycled material.

Cradle-to-cradle principle.

We work in a closed loop: raw material → product → use → melting down → new product. No downcycling. No loss of quality. The same material can be in use for decades in ever new products within the water supply network.

Longevity through enamel coating.

Our enamelled products achieve a particularly long service life and can be returned untreated to the cycle at the end of their life. The longer a product remains in use, the better its environmental footprint – because every avoided product replacement saves materials, energy and emissions.

Take-back guarantee.

At the end of their life cycle, we take back Düker cast products – ex works, free of charge. This applies to all Düker cast products, in Germany, in Europe and worldwide. The returned material flows directly into the production of new articles with consistent quality.

OUR MISSION

A CLEAR DIRECTION: CO₂-NEUTRAL BY 2044.

In 2044 we will celebrate our 575th company anniversary – and we have set this year as our target for CO₂-neutral operations. An ambitious goal. And one for which the foundations are already in place.

What we build on.

  • Certified energy management to ISO 50001 – the system with which we record and reduce our energy consumption year after year.
  • 63.9 % electricity from renewable sources with guarantees of origin under § 42 EnWG – above the German national average.
  • Production in Germany with short transport routes – fewer emissions along the supply chain.
  • Closed material cycles – products made from almost 100 % recycled material, take-back guarantee at the end of the life cycle.

What comes next.

We are working on a concrete roadmap with intermediate targets, defined measures and their implementation – from the further electrification of our production processes to the systematic reduction of emissions along the value chain.

THIS IS WHAT WE STAND FOR

ENERGY AND WATER. MEASURABLY REDUCED.

What is not measured cannot be managed. Since 2012 we have been operating an energy management system certified to ISO 50001 and an environmental management system certified to ISO 14001. These systems give us the data basis to continuously reduce our energy and water consumption – traceable, calibrated and independently audited.

63.9 % electricity from renewable sources.

63.9 % of our electricity comes from renewable sources with guarantees of origin under § 42 EnWG. This figure is also used in our EPDs for life cycle calculations. It places us above the German national average of 62.3 %. The CO₂ intensity of our electricity supply is 282 g/kWh – significantly below the national average of 298 g/kWh.

Electricity labelling 2024, preliminary data under § 42 EnWG.

Energy consumption reduced year after year.

Between 2019 and 2025 we reduced our energy consumption by an average of 10.8 % per year. Measurement is carried out using calibrated meters for electricity and gas at our production sites.

Targeted savings of drinking water.

In parallel, we reduced our drinking water consumption between 2019 and 2025 by an average of 14.1 % per year. Our production facilities are partly cooled with process water – which relieves the demand on drinking water at both sites.

THIS IS WHAT WE STAND FOR

Sustainability starts with us. In the details, too.

For us, sustainability is more than certificates and targets. It shows in everyday decisions – where habits are formed and add up. We believe: those who want to act sustainably on a large scale must also be consistent in the small things.

Less single-use. More circularity.

At our sites, we deliberately avoid single-use products. Installed water dispensers, glass bottles and reusable cups at the coffee machine replace disposable cups. Small changes – with measurable impact over the year.

Trade fair stands that stay.

Our trade fair presence is based on a modular system: built once, used many times. The stand elements do not end up in a container after every event but travel on to the next one. This reduces material, transport and waste – while remaining visually flexible and adaptable.

Attitude in the details.

Many of these decisions are unspectacular. But that is precisely where their effect lies: sustainability is not a campaign but an attitude that shows in many small routines.
